How Does International Vehicle Brokerage Work?

A broker is not a dealer. Here is how mandate, fee and responsibility are actually structured in a cross-border purchase.

Mandate, not inventory

A brokerage acts on your instruction to find, verify and secure a vehicle. Because it does not own the car, it has no reason to steer you toward one particular seller.

Transparent remuneration

The commission is agreed in writing before the search begins, so you can weigh it against the purchase price and the cost of travelling to inspect cars yourself.

Who is liable for what

Defect claims sit with the seller; the broker's duty is diligence — accurate description, verification and documentation, and support if a justified claim arises.
